About Going Going

Going Going lets a group run an auction or a vote and understand the rules they have chosen.

Your room

Up to 40 people can join by link or code. Everyone joins before the host starts. The host can cancel afterward, but cannot change the rules or close early to see a result. Each room’s rules explain its timing, payments and ties.

Rooms last for up to an hour, with extra time for late bids in English auctions. Access expires 24 hours after creation. The site records auction results; buyers and sellers arrange payment and delivery themselves. In all-pay auctions, every bidder owes their final offer, including those who lose.

Room codes and browser access are intended for people who know one another. They do not verify a person’s identity or prevent someone joining from another browser.

What other people can see

Participants see who has joined. Public auction bids are visible. Private bids stay hidden until closing, when the room reveals the winner and the amounts needed to explain the price. It does not publish every losing private offer. In an all-pay auction, the host receives each bidder’s amount owed so they can arrange collection.

Individual voting ballots are never sent to other voters or the host. The host can see how many people have submitted. Once voting ends, everyone in the room can see the combined counts.

Stored information

The room stores its title, rules, names, bids and ballots. A browser cookie reconnects you to your place without an account. A shared browser shares that access, so use a separate browser profile or device if people need separate identities.

Room access ends after 24 hours. Expired records are removed when later rooms are created, rather than necessarily at the exact moment they expire. Short-lived hashed network identifiers are used to limit repeated requests. Hosting providers may keep operational logs.

Going Going does not collect payment details or use advertising trackers. Avoid putting sensitive information in names, questions or descriptions.
